Dr. Anand Kumar Singh is a globally respected agricultural scientist and development leader with over three decades of experience in crop science, horticulture, and agricultural innovation. Currently serving as the Vice Chancellor of Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology in Kanpur, India, he brings visionary leadership and deep technical expertise to advancing climate-smart agriculture and food systems.

He previously served as Deputy Director General (Crops & Horticultural Sciences) at the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), where he provided strategic oversight to 49 ICAR institutions across India. His career includes senior leadership roles as Managing Director of the National Horticulture Board, Chairman of the Coconut Development Board, and Executive Director of NOVOD under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.

Dr. Singh has contributed significantly to global agricultural research and policy. He is the first Indian to serve as a Board Member of the World Vegetable Centre (AVRDC) in Taiwan and has represented India in seven international delegations. A prolific scholar, he has published over 160 research papers and authored 11 books, including works with Elsevier and Springer.

He has developed over 17 crop production technologies, released 750 crop varieties, and guided 29 postgraduate students. A Fellow of five National Academies and recipient of prestigious awards such as the Mombusho Award from the Government of Japan, Dr. Singh brings unparalleled expertise in sustainable agriculture, crop diversification, and global agri-policy.

At Sorghum United Foundation, Dr. Singh serves as an Advisory Board Member, supporting the organization’s mission to promote resilient, nutrition-rich crops and inclusive agricultural transformation across Africa and beyond.
